Kenzie nodded "yes, that is what your mother said."

“ Practice???…Magic???”  Rommie asked…. 

"Gotcha...come on...this way..."  She leads Kenzie back to the stables...and saddles her own horse...Primrose...as well as her mothers...Falcon.  After both horses are saddled...she mounts Falcon...nodding toward Primrose...

Kenzie gets on the horse and follows Rommie out of the stables.

The two ride for about twenty minutes until they arrived at a secluded woodland glen near the center of the Duke massive estate...around it is open for yards...making it near impossible for anyone to sneak up on...

"Thanks..."  She says...dismounting from Falcon.  "Mom and Dad used to bring us here when we were little for picnics and stuff...now I come here when I need to release...its a nice...safe place to practice magic...the grounds are well guarded...and the staff are all loyal to Daddy..."

Kenzie nodded "thank you" she looked around a little more after she dismounted and tied the horse to a low hanging branch. She moved nearer the middle of the glen and taking a deep breath and closing her eyes, she could feel the magic within her, closer to the surface then it had been since she was a little girl. Letting her breath out slowly she released the magic within her as the breath left her lips. She held her hands in front of her and one hand slowly began to burn. A look of peace began to settle on her face. She held out her other hand and the fire spread from her hands to her elbows.

Rommie sits down nearby on a fallen log...after securing Falcon.  She watches her twin use her magic...

Kenzie slowly opens her eyes and looks at her arms, she pushes the flame into her hands and she begins to manipulate the flames, making different shapes, a small contended smile on her face. This was the first time in what felt like a long time she felt even close to normal.

"That is seriously...impressive..."  Rommie says in awe...continuing to watch her...

"If something is worth doing, you should do it to the best of your ability. Dad was a taskmaster." Kenzie said softly a bit of the peace fading from her face "I practiced a lot" The designs flickered briefly before flaring and fading. She lowered her hands to her sides, feeling calmer.

"Well...your control is amazing..."  She says...tossing a bottle of water in Kenzie's direction...

Kenzie catches the water and chugs half of it "Thanks." she says softly 'Control is key' she said repeating what her father had made sure was ingrained in her mind

You sound like me...when I was learning to use my magic as a girl...Control your emotions...be disciplined...mindful of your actions...

"without control... everything goes up in flames" she smirked and with a gesture a small explosion rose from her palms.  With a roll of her shoulders the tensions left her body and she looked towards her twin "thank you. I needed that"

Not a problem...any time...I take it you are feeling better?

Kenzie finished off the water "Much..." just then her stomach rumbled "and now starving"

Rommie mounts Falcon...as the two sisters start back toward the stables..."What do you like to eat?"

"My moms Salmon chowder is my favorite, she made this Shrimp pasta dish with a garlic sauce that is a close second." Kenzie tells her, Helios being near the sea fresh seafood was easy to come by. 

Interesting...I have always been drawn to more...rustic...simple food...I make a mean homemade bread...Faith taught me...I love tomato soup...and cheese bread with various cheese and garlic spread...

"Those are good. Mom always made homemade bread. We only bought what we couldn't grow or make ourselves." Kenzie said as they rode back towards the house "Seafood was always fresh and available in Helios. Dad would take me out fishing with him and mom would cook up whatever we caught" She said with remembrance. A tear slid down her cheek at the memory.

Mom was never a big...cook...not with her position...She always wanted to spend more time in the kitchen...but never had the time...but she wanted us to have as normal an upbringing as allowed...so all three of us spent a lot of time doing normal things like cooking with Faith and Hector...riding...gardening...She didnt want us to be raised as spoiled or entitled aristocrates...We had chores growing up...we had to help out with housework...stable work...

Is there a garden on the grounds?

Yeah...on the other end of the courtyard...opposite the stables...

I always helped mom in the garden when I wasn't practicing or working

Hector in the kitchen...finishing up dinner...shrimp scampi with noodles...The breakfast nook is set for dinner...with only two places laid out...He looks up from straining the water as the girls enter..."Just in time ladies...Dinner is ready..."
